Arriving for your Safari

Many major airlines offer direct domestic and international flights to Darwin.

Once you arrive, we suggest that your group takes advantage of a scenic charter flight by light aircraft or helicopter from Darwin direct to our hunting destination, where you will be greeted by Peter Lorman who will be your guide and host for your hunting adventure.

At the end of your Safari, your scenic flight operator will return to fly you back to Darwin.

The alternate option is a 10-hour road trip in comfortable, air conditioned Landcruisers from Darwin to our buffalo bush lodge at Upper Mann River on the Central Arnhem Land Plateau.

Climate

Tropical Hunting Safaris operates from May to October inclusive, throughout the ‘Dry’ season, which is characterised by warm, dry sunny days and cool nights. Temperatures typically range from 21C (70F) to 32C (90F), and the humidity levels are much lower: around 60–65%.

We do not conduct tours during the ‘Wet’ season (November – April) as this period is characterised by increased humidity and monsoonal rains and storms, which can restrict travel.

From June to September, the weather is quite pleasant, with south easterly winds and low humidity. Temperatures can go down to 8C (46F) at night. In September and October, the weather warms up and the humidity sets in.
By mid-October, temperatures can reach 40C (104F) during the day, going down to 25C (77F) at night.
